A saturday of amazing fair in Malindi

Malindi Business & Art Exhibition at ex-Sinbad

20-10-2019 by Freddie del Curatolo

A "Saturday of the village" in which the community of Malindi has shown to know how to join and organize a fair in the tourist center of the town with many local exhibitors who have shown the proactive, healthy and future of a destination that wants to return to the splendor that compete. There are those who cry, those who sell their properties and their activities, but also many young people who are working to create conditions for business, eco-sustainability, art and fun.
At the Malindi Art & Business Exhibition in the area of the former Sinbad, next to the Casino, yesterday throughout the day you could visit stands of local crafts, local products, recycled items, paintings, photographs, clothes, essential oils, creams, fabrics and much more, the result of creativity or local art of trade.
Thanks to the organizers, the crew of the platform "Malindians.com", associations that deal with social projects have shown their programs, while those who work what the world discards but does not always manage to dispose of, here on the coast of Kenya has put it on display: there is Salim Khan with his notebooks, diaries and notebooks hand bound and produced with paper made from onion peels, baobabs and even elephant poop (yes, you have understood correctly), there is Laurencre of Mambrui that working with plastic makes the bags so soft that they look like fabric and are simple and elegant. We at Malindikenya.net with the Progress Welfare Association of Malindi have put them on display at the stand "Malindi Green And Blue".
There is also an association from the suburbs of Malindi that draws briquettes from the rubbish for the grill and for the daily needs of the local population and try to stop deforestation around Malindi. And many others that deserve visibility.
Those who visited the fair yesterday, in addition to being able to taste something that Malindi can rarely offer, especially the fantastic crab samosa of Crab Shack in Dabaso (but that I tell you about it...) could eat a rice pilau at the highest levels, prepared by the flying kitchen of Johari managed by the talented Monalisa Nganga. It was an opportunity to meet many people, especially young people, who love Malindi and try to organize things that can animate the city and at the same time attract tourists, even Kenyans. Because of mzungu these colorful, serene and pleasant events are always seen too few.
