Covid-19, 3 new cases in Kilifi County

Few tests, same percentage. Only one death

Few tests in the last 24 hours but the percentage of positives in Kenya remains the same, with 95 new cases out of 1096 people tested. The good news is that almost as many have been released from quarantine or treatment facilities (87) after being declared cured.
The Administrative Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Rashid Abdi Aman, in the usual daily press conference on Monday, June 8, confirmed that the number of active cases in the country has risen to 1928 and the total number recorded since the beginning of the pandemic is 2862, with 849 patients discharged, after only one patient in Nairobi lost his life due to the Covid-19 virus. The number of deaths has thus risen to 85
Of the new cases, 92 are Kenyan citizens while 3 are foreigners and are so distributed in the country: Mombasa 56 cases, Nairobi 13 cases, Busia 10 cases, Kajiado 6 cases, Kilifi 3 cases (all from the sub-district of Kilifi North), Kitui, Kwale, Garissa and Marsabit one case each.
Marsabit, therefore, becomes the last county to report a positive case, bringing the total number of infected counties to 38 out of 47.
In Busia, 9 of the 10 recorded cases are of truck drivers checked at the Malaba border.
It is men who are more affected by the infection than women, in fact yesterday the count indicated 57 males and 38 females of which the youngest case was a one-year-old child and the oldest 72 years old.
Dr. Abdi Aman advised the elderly and people with immunodepression or pre-existing diseases to wear N95 masks (FFP3), as recommended by the World Health Organization.
"The N95 mask is more protective and is used in situations where protection is most needed," said the Administrative Secretary. "People with poor health should try as much as possible to stay at home, even the elderly.
During the press conference, Abdi Aman announced that the Ministry of Health is considering the establishment of suitable facilities for the reception and care of asymptomatic patients.
He also reiterated that some patients still suffering from Covid 19 will be discharged to carry out the course of the disease in their own home, provided that they observe true isolation and are not in a condition to transmit the virus to other family members.
