Percentages always just over 5% in Kenya, in the daily ratio between swabs performed and cases of Covid-19 virus positivity.
This is the most important data transmitted in the bulletin of the last 24 hours by the Kenyan Ministry of Health.
Yesterday, Thursday, September 3, 212 coronavirus infections were recorded on 3937 swabs, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 34,705 and the number of tests carried out to 463,499.
Of today's positive cases, 198 are Kenyan citizens and 14 foreigners. In terms of gender, 132 are male and 80 female. The youngest was identified as a month old infant and the oldest as a 76 year old man.
Good as always the response of the cured nationwide: 195 patients have recovered from the virus and have been discharged. 141 of them were discharged from the home care program, while the rest came from various health care facilities. The total number of cured patients is now 20,644.
Unfortunately, during the same period, 4 patients died, bringing the total number of deaths to 585.
The new cases were distributed in the counties as detailed below:
Nairobi 96, Mombasa 21, Busia 10, Kiambu 11, Uasin Gishu 9, Laikipia 9, Taita Taveta 8, Narok 8, Machakos 7, Nakuru 7, Kilifi 6, Lamu 6, Kajiado 4, Bomet 2, with Bungoma, Kericho, Kwale, Migori, Murang'a, Nyeri, West Pokot and Meru all with one case each.
The public opinion in Kenya is asking the Ministry of Health if this constant decrease in percentages does not mean that the peak was definitely exceeded in August and that we are now at the downward phase, which was previously scheduled for the end of September, with the peak just in these days.
"It may be - replied yesterday the Administrative Secretary of Health, Rashid Abdi Aman - In the early stages of this pandemic, we did not have much information and data to make accurate forecasts. These things are done through models that are based on numbers and projections. We are currently exercising cautious optimism.
