Covid-19 Kenya: today 6 cases 1 dead

Total rises up to 197, with 25 recoveries

12-04-2020 by redazione

On Easter Day, the Kenyan Ministry of Health, through its Chief of Cabinet and top management, decided not to hold the usual press conference and issued a statement announcing six new cases of Covid-19 virus positivity in the country and a new death in the last 24 hours. Only one patient was released from Mbagathi Hospital in Nairobi after two swabs certified his recovery. A total of 25 patients have now been released.
These figures bring the total number of infected patients to 197 and the number of those who did not make it through the viral disease to eight.
766 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of the people found positive, five were Kenyan nationals and one foreign national, five were male and one female.
The new cases belong to only three counties, that of Nairobi with four infected, and those of Mombasa and Siaya, on Lake Victoria, with one positive each.
The patient admitted to Siaya is the deceased.
Two of the patients who are now in isolation in Nairobi have recently travelled to the Middle East, while one of them is one of the contacts of an infected Mombasa. Five out of six come from the mandatory quarantine centre set up by the government in facilities that have lent themselves to hosting suspicious people or have come into contact with those who have already contracted the virus.
Just yesterday one of the hotels in Nairobi that have offered to become quarantine centers, with special rates for patients (who have to pay the isolation out of their own pocket) threatened closure because some quarantined people have not yet paid the bill for their stay.
Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe has once again invited the Kenyans to organize themselves and take on board the government's constantly updated guidelines. Always with a mask, with a maximum of two people in the car and half of the passengers allowed on the means of transport. On the street and in public places respect the social distances of at least one meter.
