Ethiopian Airways flight to Frankfurt

Probably on April 21st, connection to Italy

19-04-2020 by Ambasciata d'Italia in Kenya

Regarding the options currently available to reach Europe, we inform that the local Delegation of the European Union has informed that a special Ethiopian Airlines flight for European citizens wishing to return to Europe is being organized, scheduled to depart next Tuesday, April 21 at 12.00 from Nairobi JKIA and destination Frankfurt.
According to the European Union Delegation, being still awaiting authorization from the Kenyan authorities, the flight may be subject to date or time changes, or even cancellation.
Furthermore, we are not yet aware of the cost of the ticket.
Please note that reservations for the flight will be opened directly on the airline's website (https://www.ethiopianairlines.com) only after obtaining the necessary authorizations until the available seats are exhausted.
Any special requirements may be communicated directly to the airline in the manner indicated on the Ethiopian Airlines website.
Connections from Frankfurt to Italy:
Please note that from Frankfurt there are daily flights with Alitalia (to Rome) and Lufthansa (to Milan and Rome) and that the German authorities require passengers travelling in transit to Italy to be in possession of a suitable ticket which must therefore be purchased prior to arrival in Frankfurt. For further information, please consult directly the General Consulate of Italy in Frankfurt, at the contacts available on the website.
Move within Kenya to reach Nairobi airport:
With regard to movements within Kenya to reach Nairobi JKIA airport (according to the information received, there is currently no stopover in Mombasa for this flight), please note that these can only be made by land, bus or taxi, as, as part of the measures taken by the Kenyan authorities to deal with the coronavirus emergency, all internal air connections have been suspended.
It is recommended that you contact this Embassy immediately after purchasing your ticket, in order to facilitate obtaining the necessary authorization to travel between counties that will have to take place overland.
In case of group travel, particularly from the coast, this may be coordinated by the European Union Delegation or Embassy.
Please note that it is possible to contact the Embassy at the following emergency numbers:
+254 722 514 327 or +254 110 093 926.
