Half people back, but still tourism ok in Kenya coast

From Malindi to Watamu are expected new visitors

04-01-2017 by redazione

It was only a half back home, the one of yesterday from the holiday on the Kenyan coast.
A good portion of tourists, especially local ones, have returned to Nairobi and other towns in the north of the country, for the resumption of work activities (in Kenya is also arouses January 2) and for the reopening of schools.
But if domestic tourism this year has accounted for at least half of the attendance during the Christmas holidays and New Year in Mambrui, Malindi and Watamu, it is also true that tourism in Kilifi County has not completely subsided.
This is due in part to "bridge" the next Epiphany coming, which has allowed many European tourists to postpone the return to the homeland, usually scheduled for January 4-5-6, and even these days the arrival of new tourists who have deliberately avoided the holidays during the Christmas season because of the high prices of flights or because they have not found solutions to their liking.
This year (and has not happened since 2010), there have been the first arrivals from Italy and 2 January, while other visitors will arrive after January 10.
Some of them also will retain most of the classic two weeks, providing a holiday two months of media.
For this employment this week remains around 65%, according to estimates of the Association of the coastal section of the Kenyan hotelier and we hope to stay at least on shares of almost 50% for the entire month of January.
