Kenya's Minister of Health Mutahi Kagwe confirmed three other cases of Coronavirus positivity in the country.
These are three other citizens who have recently returned from abroad, as well as the 4 previous cases registered in Nairobi.
Two of the new cases concern a couple who returned from Madrid on March 4 with transit to Dubai, while the third is a citizen of Burundi who also came from the United Arab Emirates and arrived on Tuesday, March 17. Upon measuring the temperature on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, the man detected a fever and was immediately transported to the airport's isolation centre.
"Kenyans traveling from other countries will have to sign a legal form that says that they will be self-quarantined at the reported home - added Kagwe - and will risk prison if they do not respect the isolation. Travelers from other countries are the biggest threat.
Meanwhile, Mbagathi Hospital has already discharged seven of the 18 patients who were part of the same flight from London as the Kenyan "patient 1". They will continue the isolation at home, with periodic observation by doctors. The other 11 are still in the hospital and continue the testing phase.
