Increasingly full health care facilities with risk of collapse if a significant percentage of new patients will need treatment.
This is what emerges from the words of the Chief Administrative Secretary of Kenyan Health, Dr Rashid Abdi Aman.
Yesterday's day, Sunday 5 July, also confirms the upward trend of Covid-19 cases in Kenya in July.
At the usual daily press conference at Afya House, Abdi Aman confirmed 309 new positives in the country, which brings the total number of cases registered to 7886.
"As a nation, we are going through the most dangerous curve since the pandemic began," said Abdi Aman, presenting the latest bulletin, "many citizens are behaving as if nothing had happened, carrying on their affairs as if we did not have a pandemic at home. The growing number of positive cases indicates that the containment measures are not being respected. There are parties at home, public transport is transporting people as before".
For the benefit of the statistics, of the 309 cases recorded yesterday, 217 are male and 92 are female. The youngest is a 1-year-old infant, while the oldest was identified as an 83-year-old man.
At the same time, a further 51 people were discharged from various healthcare facilities across the country, bringing the total number of healings to 2,287. Unfortunately, the number of deaths rose to 160, as reported by Abdi Aman, with another patient succumbing to the virus.
As for Sunday's cases, Nairobi leads with 193 cases with Kajiado following with 22, Kiambu 20, Mombasa 18, Makueni 17, Busia 11, Machakos 9, Nakuru 8, Nandi 3, Turkana 3, Narok 2, Nyandarua, Kakamega and Kilifi 1.
