Kenya has become one of the first African countries for wellness tourism.
Private healthcare and SPA facilities have led Kenya to the podium between the destinations of "medical tourism" in the Black Continent, as reported in the report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) of 2017.
The main beneficiaries of Kenya's health and well-being facilities are visitors from neighboring countries, but the important thing is that treatments and treatments are often vacated, thus fueling the tourism industry.
"Medical tourism, as well as westerners looking for top-level SPAs, is made up of African citizens seeking high-level specialist medical services and primary health care services, increasingly in other African countries," explains the report titled "Tourism For the transformational and inclusive growth states ".
In addition to Kenya, Egypt, Mauritius, Morocco and South Africa and Tunisia are mentioned in the special ranking.
The report states that Europeans are heading to Africa ever more and more each year by looking for low-cost and high-quality specialized medical services in the field of orthodontic, ocular and aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
Generally, four international tourists over 10 in Kenya come from the continent itself with estimates suggesting that the market segment of intra-regional tourism tourism is growing.
"The demand from medical tourists for specialized medical care can stimulate the creation of jobs for highly qualified health professionals who provide such services," says Unctad tourism report.
The report also mentions wellness tourism - a journey to the pursuit of improving physical well-being - as another growing market segment in Kenya as well as throughout Africa.
Homeopathy, but also physiotherapy and rehabilitation medicine are cited in the report, while in Kenya the health tourism strategy is to create high-quality competitive facilities with European private services to attract more customers and not just from Africa Sub-Saharan Africa.
