A sudden huge fire broke out in the evening at Mombasa Hospital, the oldest and most important private health facility in the second city of Kenya, as reported by local police sources and confirm numerous videos and images posted by citizens on social networks.
The fire started around 9 am from inside the hospital causing panic among employees and patients hospitalized in the facility, which has 125 beds for hospitalization. The guests of the hospital were evacuated thanks to the timely intervention of the Red Cross of Mombasa and re-protected in other city structures, while the County firefighters arrived shortly after and began operations to extinguish the fire.
Meanwhile, the flames have risen very high and, thanks to the darkness, are visible throughout the city and in front of the island of Mombasa from Nyali.
The work of the firemen continues. Updates on the causes of the fire and on the safety of the structure will follow later. 
Fortunately, no casuaties have been reported.

Update at 9 AM: It was a gas cylinder that caused the explosion that resulted in the scary fire that last night devastated part of Mombasa Hospital. The local authorities declared this this morning, adding that it is not yet possible to estimate the damage to the structures and equipment and confirming that there are no victims.
