A cleaner coast: waste bins in Jacaranda Bay

Jacaranda Beach Resort initiative with Kilifi County

12-09-2019 by redazione

The tourism sector is continuing its efforts to make the coast of Kilifi County cleaner and healthier.
Waste collection has also been better organized in the Jacaranda Bay area, thanks to the initiative of the Jacaranda Beach Resort, which donated three bins to the County in as many strategic and equidistant pitches between the tourist facilities and the most populous villages, where waste was previously thrown without control, waiting for the passage (alas rare) of the collection company.
Now, thanks to the designated points, the collection truck will also pass through Jacaranda Bay on a daily basis. During the ceremony, in the presence of the General Manager of Jacaranda Bay, Daniele Tiritò, the Chief Officer of the County Ministry of the Environment, Mariam Jeneby sensitized local residents not to throw rubbish into the environment but to use bins and at the same time keep their habitat clean.
"There has been a rapid development around here - explains Tiriò - and we believe that in addition to the beaches should be kept in a decent state even the streets and areas near the homes of residents.
Other similar initiatives, which are worth saying, if they do not start from the private sector do not materialize but where if you show goodwill and a minimum of investment, the institutions support (and there is also the "power" to act as their supervisors and require that the service is good and the agreements made are respected), are also being implemented in other areas less affected by waste collection and development, such as Mambrui, where a group of entrepreneurs and sensitive citizens has been formed, along the lines of what has been done in Malindi, where the Progress Welfare Association of Malindi is doing school and the Malindi Green And Blue movement is now a beautiful reality.
