Saturday 8th the third Malindi Clean Up Day

Responsible residents from 8am in Kisumundogo

06-06-2019 by Leni Frau

Saturday, June 8th, the initiative of the group of responsible Malindi residents, with associations and civil society involved as well as the Municipality, the Ministry of the Environment of Kilifi County, the Malindi GreenAndBlue movement and many local companies and private citizens.
As every second Saturday of the month, and for the third time after the positive mornings of April and May, was chosen an area of the town to clean up but especially where to create "awareness", or educate and raise awareness among the local population to protect and respect the environment every day.
This activity is carried out by talking to area managers and institutional representatives of the neighborhood or the streets concerned days before, alerting shopkeepers and the population, turning around with megaphones and distributing leaflets.
On Saturday morning the appointment is at the entrance of Kisumundogo from the Malindi-Mombasa street, at the height of the Farmers. You will walk, armed with gloves, bags for recycling, rakes and wheelbarrows, to the HGM Primary School.
A truck kindly offered by Naran Furniture will follow the group to collect the bags.
As always, we invite all citizens not only to participate as a moment of cohesion and unity under a single goal, that of improving health, the environment and bring Malindi back to its former beauty, as when in 2001 was elected the cleanest and most orderly town in Kenya, but also to imitate us in every neighborhood, perhaps by establishing weekly days. Now is no longer the time to complain or wait for institutions to act for our good (which is obviously not theirs), you have to do if you really care about your habitat. Without talking about "planet" or "global", simply having pleasure and feeling better by improving the spaces around your home. So difficult or tiring?
