November Clean Up: theme is transportation

07-11-2019 by Leni Frau

This Saturday, November 9, will be the ninth time that an increasingly large group of citizens of Malindi (and many even from Watamu) will gather for an exercise in cleaning some streets with the aim of raising awareness of their fellow citizens on self-love and respect for their territory, separate collection and recycling education.
The Malindi Clean Up Day began, every second Saturday of the month, last April and every time a topic and a field is chosen within which to act, made up of institutional partners, work or associations and individuals to be involved in the same way as the Municipality of Malindi and the Ministry of the Environment of the County of Kilifi.
This month the theme is transport and the mobilization concerns the associations "Sacco" of matatu, the operators of boda boda and tuk tuk and of course also air transport.
For this reason, the Progress Welfare Association of Malindi, which coordinates the Malindi Green And Blue movement, has decided that the November Clean Up will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning from the entrance to the International Airport, whose opening to international flights is requested and for which the responsible citizens share the words and support of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has promised a solution shortly.
From the airport the Malindi cleaners will arrive at the roundabout, where they will meet to weigh the waste collected by sorting the materials and distribute them both for recycling and to take them to the landfill.
At the end of the year, around 10 a.m., there will also be a press conference.
As always, all citizens and residents are asked to participate to confirm that Malindi is our city and our responsibility!
