Malindi celebrate the genius of italian movies at White Elephant

Exhibition, music and event free for all on reservation on 6th march

28-02-2020 by Leni Frau

Even Malindi, as the many cities around the world where there is a strong Italian component, will host an event to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the birth of what is universally recognized as the "Master" of Italian Cinema, Federico Fellini.
The Italian Embassy in Kenya and the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi have organized for Friday, March 6 the event "Fellini's Dream" at the White Elephant Art Lodge in Casuarina, with the collaboration of Malindikenya.net.
At 6 pm in the art space at the entrance of the White Elephant, in an atmosphere that is more cinematic and "Fellini's Dream" is difficult to find not only in Kenya and Africa, there will be the inauguration of an exhibition of drawings by the director from Romagna (sixteen plates illustrating his world, his films and his dreams) and a recital with the musician Marco Bigi who will play some of the most famous songs by Fellini's favourite composer, Nino Rota, taken from equally famous films, such as Amarcord and 8 and Mezzo e canzoni degli Anni Sessanta linked to the atmosphere of "Vitelloni". At the end of the show all participants will be offered a light refreshment. The entrance to the event is free as it will be in the days to come to visit the exhibition that will remain on display for a few weeks.
After the presentation of Freddie del Curatolo, between one song and another, there will be readings taken from quotations, interviews and thoughts of the great director, in Italian and English.
For some years now, thanks to the attention shown by the representatives of Italian institutions in Kenya and the unity shown by a pool of local activities that, driven by our desire to promote Malindi as an Italian excellence in Kenya, Malindi has been able to host cultural and artistic events with good continuity that contribute not only to bring Kenyans and foreign residents of Malindi and its surroundings closer to the many local realities worthy of being shown and narrated, but also to further compact our community. Also for this reason, as well as for the undoubted value of the event itself, we strongly recommend you to participate.
The entrance, as said, is free but we recommend to book for the safety of the seat. You can write an email to info@malindikenya.net or call 0717067198
