Rules gazetted, fines up to Kes. 20.000

10-04-2020 by redazione

And in Kenya came the day of fines for those who do not respect the new rules of the Covid-19 emergency.
Article 41 of the new health law, which obliges anyone travelling by any means, whether private or public, to wear a protective mask, is officially gazetted. The fine if you do not wear it is very steep, that is Kes. 20,000 and for those who do not have them, you can get up to 6 months imprisonment, depending on the type of offence.
At the same time, retailers are obliged to wear masks, including street and market vendors.
Retailers are also obliged to put in place measures to ensure that a distance of one metre is maintained between people entering or within their premises or their place of work and to disinfect the premises regularly.
The decree definitively clarifies what types of gathering or assembly are prohibited: any meeting, assembly, crowd or procession in or on any street or public space, any building, place or premises, including in whole or in part outdoors, and including all premises or places used for any barbershop, massage parlour and beauty salon, gymnasium, wellness centre, sports, religious, cultural, political, academic and fundraising activities, may not bring together more than fifteen people and at a distance of one metre from each other.
It is also stated that the burials or cremation of loved ones who succumb to the virus will be carried out within 48 hours of death.
