Blackout Kenya, ore al buio nel paese

It is the third in a year, the reasons

Yesterday evening, Saturday, Kenya experienced the third total blackout in the country.
The power outage started around 7.50pm and in a short time covered 75 per cent of the country.
The situation returned to normal after about eight hours, with some regions receiving power late at night.
The subsidiary company that administers power in the country, Kenya Power & Lightning, explained in a statement that it was waiting for data on the affected areas before issuing a full statement.

'We will share an update with you as soon as the data is available,' said Immaculate Kubai, Kenya Power's head of corporate communications. But from the rumblings of experts in the national media, the problem appears to be attributable to the power plants on Lake Turkana and their transmission along a single line connecting Nairobi and from there Mombasa and Kisumu.
In one of the previous blackouts, it was rumoured that in a partial blackout, the company had preferred, for economic reasons, to sell power to neighbouring Uganda, with the risk, later realised, of leaving its citizens in the dark.
Once again, among the major inconveniences caused were the lack of electricity in some of the country's hospitals, which do not have adequate generators and uninterruptible power supply units, and at the JKIA airport in Nairobi, where only the control tower functioned and passengers were left in the dark and waiting to check in.
