A total of 6.4 million euro will be allocated to the Italian Development Cooperation project in the Ngomeni area, 30 km north of Malindi, where the Luigi Broglio Space Centre is located.
It involves a series of interventions in the fields of infrastructure, education and fish trade.
The first phase of the project has already been implemented (the construction of a school, a health centre and infrastructure works in the village of Ngomeni), and the Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Alberto Pieri, in personally verifying the progress of the work on site, confirmed the Italian Government's commitment to development in Kilifi County.
As part of this important intervention, the second phase of the project also concerns the asphalting of the stretch of road leading to the San Marco base, which is eleven kilometres from Malindi-Lamu, as well as the construction of a fishing centre for local fishermen in Ungwana Bay and the extension of a school.
