TUI suspends charter flights to Kenya

No tourists from UK and Germany up to 4th september

21-08-2021 by redazione

Also the European charters of the Anglo-German company TUI have decided to suspend their flights on routes to Kenya, following the warnings issued by the British and German governments.
This is a hard blow for the already little tourism in Kenya, especially for what concerns safari travel, in conjunction with the spectacle of the great migration in the Masai Mara.
The decision of TUI, as stated in the press release of the Tour Operator, for now is valid until next September 4, in the hope that something will change in the meantime.
As we have already written, it is the slowness of the vaccination campaign that worries European countries and if Kenya goes on at this pace is a mirage to think of being able to return to have tourists from Europe and USA in a short time.
The recent restrictions made by the United States and Great Britain, which strongly discourage travel to Kenya for tourism and oblige those returning from the African country to undergo quarantine, have also discouraged the few tour operators linked to charter or scheduled flights that organized vacations on the coast or in national parks.
Even the German government, after the national airline Lufthansa activated weekly flights to Mombasa, retraced its steps, reimposing a 10-day quarantine for those returning from Kenya, even if vaccinated.
At this point, the Kenyan tourism sector is clamoring for the government to speed up the vaccination process and raise awareness of the need to immunize the population in order to give confidence to the international travel market.
