TRAVEL INFO

From today, 2 January 2024, to enter Kenya one must apply for the new Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) at the etakenya.go.ke website, which has been operational since yesterday afternoon, after a few days of 'work in progress', following the announcement of the start of online operations last 27 December.
The same site now on the front page confirms the operation and by entering the 'Apply Now' section one can proceed, reading the required documents and accepting the clauses.
At the same time, the site reminds that those who have already done the 'old' visa online anyway, will be accepted for entry into Kenya through 2024. The evisa.go.ke portal itself is operational and could remain so for some time yet, in any case the eTA, besides being faster and issued more quickly (as a rule, it will then have to be seen when the site is under pressure from thousands of contacts), is cheaper. Italians, including commissions, should pay about 31 euros, about 20 less than the ETA.
Kenya's eTA is a semi-automatic system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to Kenya. Authorisation through eTA does not determine a traveller's eligibility to enter Kenya. Immigration officials will determine eligibility upon arrival of travellers. The eTA application collects biographical information and answers eligibility questions and can be submitted at any time prior to travel, although travellers are advised to apply for it as soon as accommodation and transport tickets are booked.
The eTA is mandatory for all foreign visitors, with the exception of citizens of EAC member states who wish to travel to Kenya.
Every individual is required to apply for an eTA before commencing travel.
It is mandatory to use the official government website to submit the application. Applications submitted through third party websites will be automatically rejected. For those under the age of 18, the legal guardian, parent or accompanying adult is responsible for completing the application.
