Freddie and Sbringo's mission accomplished

Doing good by telling the story of Italians in Kenya

06-03-2023 by redazione

If the Italian tourist season in Malindi and Watamu turned out to be positive beyond the most optimistic expectations, we can say the same for Malindikenya.net's initiatives among culture, solidarity and entertainment. As part of the events for Italians in Kenya, in addition to the exhibitions, concerts and book presentations organized together with the Institute of Italian Culture in Nairobi, it is worth mentioning the excellent response to the evenings of the show by Freddie Del Curatolo and Marco "Sbringo " Bigi entitled "Once upon a time there were Italians in Kenya." Those who read us know what it is about and why a musical album was released combined with a solidarity campaign.
The results of the charitable side of the CD sales and mp3 format online will be presented in the coming days directly in the place deputed to receive food aid through the Italian non-profit organization Karibuni, namely in Langobaya, deep inland from Malindi, where the drought this year has been felt most severely and has resulted in food shortages due to the barrenness of arable fields.
Karibuni, through his efforts to irrigate his farm, is managing to get his gardens producing and especially raising chickens that also yield eggs.
Returning to Freddie and Sbringo's shows, Saturday night saw the sixth and final episode of the record presentations in the form of theater-song, including cabaret, poetry, music and a lot of irony, but also anecdotes and stories about the history of Italians in Kenya, from past centuries to present times.
The third of the evenings hosted by Olimpia Beach Club recorded yet another full house and the satisfaction of the compatriots present. The goodbye of the couple that tells the story of Italians in Kenya is for next season.
Below is a collage of the various moments of the last evening.
