MOURNING

This is sad news for all Nature and wildlife lovers in Kenya, and not just Italians.
After a short and devastating illness, Olga Levari Ercolano, a compatriot in Kenya who dedicated much of her life to the conservation of Kenya's nature and animals, has left us.
Olga, of clear Italian origins but in Kenya for a lifetime, was an important presence for conservation and environmental struggles in the country, starting with those to safeguard a great natural heritage such as the Nairobi National Park.
For this reason, Olga Levari Ercolano was appointed Honorary Warden, or Honorary Ranger of the Kenya Wildlife Service, as well as being the soul of the Friends of Nairobi National Park association, with which she initiated many conservation and rehabilitation projects.
An indefatigable activist, Olga was above all a gentle and polite presence, who would only get angry when someone touched ‘her’ wildlife. Her earnest and engaging dedication to a cause will be missed.
A fond farewell to her children and relatives, and to all the friends who shared so many years of beauty with her.
