The one of the Permanent Secretary of Transport of Kenya is much more than a proposal. From next year the highways of Kenya that will be realized or to place remittances, will be paid. PS John Mosonik announced the return after more than twenty years of toll booths with tolls, which will be added to the excise of 18 shillings per liter for diesel and gasoline, which go for maintenance of the road network in Kenya. Maintenance that can not be considered a flagship of transport management in the country. Precisely for this Mosonik announced that the toll will be part of some sort of reimbursement to individuals who participate in tenders to win the construction of new highways.
The toll revolution according to the National Roads Authority was already starting this year, but the Minister of Transport has postponed the commissioning opera.Con the beginning of the new year may already happen for the Nakuru-Eldoret in the Rift Valley and for the "southern Bypass" that will connect the port and the airport of Mombasa to Nairobi and the guidelines for Tanzania, off the south coast and via Taita-Taveta.
Even the coast road Bagamoyo-Malindi, whose project was re-launched together with the presidents of Tanzania and Kenya, and Kenyatta Magufuli, could become a fee. Twenty-five years ago, in Kilifi, there were the toll booths. Price tag: 5 shillings.
