From Monday, as a result of statements made by the President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta, all citizens and foreign residents in the country over the age of 58 will be able to be vaccinated thanks to the Covax programme for developing countries provided by the Covax organisation.
This will take place in all public facilities in Kenya and also in private ones that have been chosen, the list of which we have published in recent days and which is also available, as far as the coast is concerned, on our website at this link.
As for foreign residents stationed in Malindi and Watamu, you have to fill out a self-declaration and submit it to the Malindi Chemist, in Lamu Road (next to Absa Bank, former Barclays Bank). Attached below is the self-declaration to be filled in.
The vaccine that should be free of charge (but for residents, it is better to ask Malindi Chemist in advance when handing in the document), is AstraZeneca.
The booster should take place within a maximum period of two months.
By the end of April, according to what has been leaked in the local media, the Russian vaccine Sputnik should also be available in Kenya, at the price of Kes. 5500 per dose, so Kes. 11,000 per vaccine and booster.
Other vaccines are expected to arrive later.
