CREATIONS
20-07-2022 by Freddie del Curatolo
When Italian women's creativity meets in fertile ground like Kenya's, beautiful and unique things can only come out.
Stefania Livi, a stylist and accessories designer who always loves to propose new series and ideas of original elegance, has decided this year in her Wild Side Shop, at the Galana Centre in Malindi, to propose a series of bags of various sizes and uses (from clutches to walking bags to spacious beach bags, finished as ) using the images of our own Leni Frau (born Maddalena Stefanelli), "a photographer by passion and also a bit by profession" as she defines herself, who for ten years has been presenting the Kenyan coast and this country in general with a special eye on everyday life and those scenes that the human eye captures and often unconsciously transfers to the soul, building like a mosaic the tesserae that form that infinite work entitled "mal d'Africa". In addition to the acclaimed exhibition "Mijikenda", represented from 2016 to 2018 in over 20 Italian art spaces and venues, Leni exhibited one of her latest solo shows ("Zeinab Zena", commissioned by the Italian Embassy in Kenya) at Fort Jesus in Mombasa.
Choosing from thousands and thousands of shots, the colourful world of the matatu, the spice markets, the glimpses and details of this land are imprinted on the canvas of unseen accessories that tell a story of enchantment and life.
As well as perpetuating the inventive diary of Wild Side Shop, which is no stranger to liaisons with artists and photographers. In the boutique that increasingly resembles an art gallery, accessories embellished with the works of Gian Paolo Tomasi and the shots of Francesca Partesi, among others, are still available.
