After Kilifi and Watamu, optical fiber are coming also in Malindi, where they are placing cables for super-fast internet connection for every supplier.
Yesterday morning the workers of "Faiba" companies were at work, digging away from the office of Orange, opposite the Malindi Police Station.
The first cable line will arrive at the Oasis Mall (Nakumatt), then activate other excavations up to a total area of three kilometers and as of mid-year 2017, the new network will connect offices and private Internet with more power.
Kenyan society "Faiba" are connected first of all the Internet companies that sell the 3G and 4G connections (Safaricom and Zuku) and also the television network Zuku, who along with the internet offers an all inclusive package of super-fast connection, which provides television channels, modems and telephony. Zuku is already active in Nairobi and Mombasa where now the Internet has a speed and an efficiency even higher than that of Europe.
The work of laying an optical fiber from Mombasa started already in 2014 but was halted after several kilometers of cable had been stolen overnight by attackers who believed there was copper can reuse.
Then some legal disputes between Safaricom and Telkom Kenya have delayed the resumption of work, but now it seems it's time to finally see fast connection even in Kilifi County, hopefully at an affordable economic conditions.
