Nairobi traffic, 15 days of passion for CBD travellers

Ongoing work announced until mid-September

Fifteen days of passion for Nairobi motorists heading to the Central Business District from tomorrow, Saturday 31 August, until 15 September next.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) stated that The Uhuru Highway section at Haile Selassie Road roundabout will be closed for a fortnight for ‘planned road works for the construction of a pedestrian subway in the section’.
However, KeNHA has provided in a statement on social media and in print newspapers, alternative routes into and out of the CBD, which is already congested on a daily basis, as those who frequent it are well aware.
Vehicles coming from Upper Hill and heading to Waiyaki Way and those coming from Mombasa Road and heading to Waiyaki Way, for example, will have to detour at Greenpark. Those coming from the opposite side, i.e. from Waiyaki Way to Mombasa Road, will have to turn at Rubis Petrol Station, while those from the CBD heading towards Mombasa Road will be able to turn into Ring Road behind Neno Evangelism Church.
Vehicles heading from the CBD to Upper Hill and from Upper Hill to the CBD will not be disrupted, KeNHA said, asking members of the public to cooperate with traffic officers on their way.
