TOURISM

The airlines and charter companies, tour operators and travel agencies will ask the Government, after the effective entry into force of the new DCPM, Thursday 15 October, to open to Christmas tourism the most popular and safest destinations among those outside the Schengen area.
This is what is reported on some specialized websites and confirmed by an interview with the Commercial Director of the Neos company, Aldo Sarnataro, by the insert L'Economia del Corriere della Sera.
Neos, strengthened also by a consolidated relationship this year with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with which it has collaborated for the dozens of repatriation flights for compatriates blocked abroad, especially in long-haul destinations already covered by Neos, but not only, has already submitted a formal request to the Farnesina, to reactivate at least during the December and January holidays the routes usually most requested by our compatriots.
"We have submitted proposals to the competent bodies to reopen the tourist corridors and keep the market alive until it will be possible to return to full operation - said Sarnataro - for example the Maldives give guarantees of distance and open air, we can also use the boarding buffers as Alitalia is doing between Fiumicino and Linate. We are able to control the entire travel chain, from our flights to travel to holiday destinations".
Like Alpitour's reference company, other realities in the Italian tourism sector are also moving to push Italy to reopen at least to the most popular destinations, where they have entrepreneurial interests and thousands of compatriots work.
Leaving earlier (Neos would have scheduled the first flights to Kenya and Zanzibar on November 25th) would also mean preparing for the planned reopening, hopefully for the first months of 2021 and the Christmas holidays, the newspaper confirms, would be an excellent test to develop procedures and safety.
