For a few months we feared losing their precious collaboration, which costs a few hundred shillings a year (Kshs 3000), just to pay the rent of a room where they can welcome their compatriots and pay the minimum expenses.
In the end it wasn't even like that, because what Marina and Giancarlo Cecchetti do is pure volunteer work, that of kindness and a predisposition to lend a hand to Italians abroad who for various reasons need assistance.
The Italian Association of Kilifi County had closed its doors at the end of last year, but at the urging of many residents and the Honorary Consulate of Malindi itself, its two mentors have reopened right next to the consular office, in one of the new shops in the Sabaki Center, next to the renovated Bar Bar.
There will no longer be a bookshop (also for reasons of space ...) but for advice, explanations, flying translations of documents and other "tips", the two "angels" of Malindi who have long since decided to give meaning to the good fortune of being retired still very active and energetic, are available every day, Monday to Friday from 9 to 12.
