Finally, the Spotify music platform has also arrived in Kenya.
We have become accustomed to the "liquid" and digital era in which music, as is the case for much of culture, is spread through virtual libraries that make available, for a fee, much of the global production, reserving the right to convey, through suggestions and advertisements, that which pays the most.
Nothing new, but above all something that, at a time when records no longer have any value, artists have less and less chance of emerging independently and everything is used and thrown away in a great hurry, makes listening quick and swallowed up like fast food.
But so be it. Once we accept this, we can say that Spotify is one of the best music services around and offers the possibility to search for the songs you like to listen to, choosing from the many genres available. Its library boasts more than 50 million tracks, premiere albums, unreleased and exclusive releases, but that's not all: also audiobooks, plays, radio dramas, podcasts, poetry readings and monologues.
Once you click on an artist's name, other songs by the artist and various explanatory tabs containing information, photos and hyperlinks to related Spotify pages open up.
Until now, it had never been possible to access it in Kenya, from today you can either take advantage of the 'free' version with advertising breaks, or subscribe to the 'premium' monthly formula starting at $3 a month.
For the rest, the large online disco offers the possibility of creating your own playlists (also great for those who have a club, hotel or restaurant) and in the paid version to store on your computer or mobile phone the songs you want to listen to again even when you are not online.
