Watamu Fishing Festival at the top in Costarica

Kenyan crew's victory promotes the destination.

01-05-2022 by Freddie del Curatolo

Watamu carried its name high as the world's offshore fishing destination by representing Kenya in the international offshore tournament held in Costa Rica in recent days and triumphing in the competition.
The Costa Sunglasses Offshore Championship 2022 was attended by the crew consisting of Florian Biziere, director of Ocean Sports in Watamu with Steve Harries and Geoff Bell.
The trio, named "Watamu Fishing Festival" literally routed the competition, in the final with 7 other boats from around the world. On the last day of fishing, with the capture and release of eight huge blue marlin, they secured the final victory in the prestigious tournament. The news is doing the rounds of sport fishing enthusiasts internationally and is certainly a great promotion for the destination Watamu that over the years is gaining notoriety everywhere thanks to the variety of opportunities available to have fun and indulge their passions: from kitesurfing to fishing, from whale-watching (admire whales, orcas and dolphins during their migration) to mountain-biking in the forest of Arabuko Sokoke. With the addition of the relaxation of the beach, the wonderful uniqueness of an excursion in the Mida Creek among the mangroves and many other suggestions.
