Those who will return to Malindi and Watamu in November or for Christmas will certainly find many novelties regarding the roads and roads.
To the many projects already completed, such as the seafront road in Malindi, or under construction, will certainly be added the first section of the coastal route between the two tourist destinations, the road from Watamu to Jacaranda Bay.
This is one of the oldest projects that recall a famous song by Gino Paoli and which, like the international airport, risked becoming a legend.
But the pressure exerted in recent seasons by Owen Baya MP Owen Baya, the Tiritò family owner of Jacaranda and Jumbo Resort and other "stakeholders" in the area, plus the external support of trade associations and the PWAM, have unblocked a question of rebound and expertise that risked leaving everything as it has always been.
Instead, after weeks of widening, levelling and laying the bottom of the dirt track, last Thursday the asphalting of the first two kilometres of the link began, as part of the first part of the project that foresees, by the end of the year, the coverage of the entire stretch to the Jacaranda Resort and the junction with the road that on one side leads to Msabaha, on the Malindi-Mombasa and going straight leads (not without some bumpy and stony moments) to Mayungu.
Owen Baya himself greeted positively the work of caterpillar and rollers: "At last the asphalting of the Watamu-Jacaranda starts - Baya wrote on his social profiles - which starts the project of connection between Watamu and Malindi that will be a decisive change of gear for the tourism and economy of this area".
Jacaranda Bay won the best beach in Watamu, they say hundreds of fans of Africa, tourists and Italian residents who love the coast of Kenya.
