A stay at Saruni Mara is not a safari like any other.
First of all because we are in the middle of the most ambitious and successful conservation project of the Maasai Mara ecosystem among those that totally involve local communities, in secundis for the beauty of the lodge and the incredible location, in the forest between two hills that open to show a breathtaking view of the entire reserve.
Saruni Mara was built in 2003 by the writer and journalist Riccardo Orizio with two entrepreneurial friends, also Italian and carried on by Orizio himself, who decided to embrace a new life as a conservationist in safari hospitality. So much so that over the years he has set up three other camps: Saruni Wild, Saruni Rhino and Saruni Samburu, the latter two in an almost twin conservancy in the Samburu region.
The Mara North Conservancy sees Saruni among its founders and during the stay in the beautiful boutique lodge, sipping an aperitif in the company of zebras, eland and elephants, you can breathe an air different from that of many other structures in the savannah.
"We believe that Africa needs not only charity and emergency aid, but also honest, transparent and solidarity with the community, where profits are made and used to create jobs and professional opportunities and to provide the people who own the land where wildlife has a fair income" is the philosophy of Saruni, summarized on the company's official website.
The Saruni Mara consists of five elegant cottages, a family cottage and a manor house, for a maximum of 18 guests that make it a jewel of intimacy and immersion in Nature.
