A project that combines women's support with the protection of the environment in the inland of Kilifi and Malindi.
The Italian association Africa Milele, which can count on a growing number of volunteer enthusiasts and is mainly active in Chakama, on the road to the Tsavo National Park,is carrying out a project of donated re-washable absorbents for female students and girls, Inside the coast, in collaboration with "Little dresses for Africa".
Last Tuesday the stage at Ganze, twenty kilometers from Kilifi.
About 150 women participated in the initiative, among the students of the last primary and many girls in the area.
"We expected a bigger number - says Livia Canepa, coordinator of the project - but now the whole region is experiencing a drought and lack of food, so many girls went to work in shamba."
The distribution was attended by the Preside, representing the elementary school of Ganze, the chief of the village representing the government and three members of the organization "Sauti ya Wanawake" (Women's voice), operating in the area of Ganze.
All women have been very interested and enthusiastic about the project of distributing washable absorbents, so the Italian association has been asked to organize other distributions in the region.
According to the data provided to the association by Sauti ya Wanawake, girls in grades 6-8 of primary schools that would most need support, go around 12,000 attendees.
