Kenya closes more doors as possible

New rules to prevent the spread are already in act

14-03-2020 by redazione

Kenya is preparing to close as many doors to the Coronavirus as possible.
After yesterday's announcement of the first case, a young Kenyan woman with American citizenship who returned from Ohio on March 5, the Government immediately set in motion to make effective the regulations that had already been agreed for national security against this new pandemic.
With immediate effect, all public demonstrations and any meetings at national or international level were banned. All employees of public institutions were banned from travelling abroad, while other directives were addressed to public premises and even outdoor places such as markets.
In the meantime, some venues have already begun to close and make their choice public: the Nairobi stock exchange is suspended as of today, even the Kenyatta International Conference Centre will not host any event. The David Sheldrick Foundation with a statement has suspended visits to its elephant rehabilitation centre in Tsavo and other facilities in the coming hours will do the same. Meanwhile, the first case recorded in Ethiopia is making Kenya think about closing the borders with its neighboring country.
As far as the individual counties are concerned, the county of Kilifi, through the voice of its Governor, Amason Kingi, has drawn up some rules of prevention and issued local telephone numbers to warn qualified personnel in case of symptoms similar to those of the Coronavirus.
Here are the numbers: 0745984244 or 0793277819 and 0794497578.
