Vacation in Kilifi County, there will be something for everyone

What Malindi, Watamu, Kilifi offers to tourists

06-12-2022 by Freddie del Curatolo

There will be something for everyone. That could be the slogan for the Christmas and New Year vacations in Malindi and Watamu. Vacations that for Kenyans have already begun, with school closures and the so-called "African summer," which will come into full swing as they do every year next weekend, with the long bridge of the national independence holiday, Jamhuri Day, falling on Monday, December 12.

The high season of international tourism, on the other hand, will turn on its most powerful spotlight around Dec. 20 and will have its brightest from Jan. 27 to Jan. 6.
This year, from what transpires from hotel bookings and agencies, but also from airlines that directly or indirectly connect Europe to Kenya, there may be the long wave, that is, the boom of foreigners will not all be concentrated in a dozen days or so.
On the other hand, the phenomenon of so many tourists arriving after January 15 should also settle down because of lower prices for flights and accommodations in resorts, hotels, bed & breakfasts and private situations.

There will be something for everyone because by now Watamu and Malindi, as we have been saying for a long time, are complementary and if you add Kilifi they offer a range of attractions and opportunities for all generations and different social and economic groups of travelers.
If Watamu is the pulsing center of hotel hospitality, with its resorts that are landmarks throughout the coastal strip (we speak in particular of Jacaranda Beach, 7 Islands, Crystal Bay, Medina Palms and Garoda Beach) but also with many other boutique hotel, private villas and b&b solutions, Malindi attracts clientele of a certain age but who still want to feel alive, families who want services (supermarkets, restaurants, various stores) at their fingertips and "repeaters" who now feel at home, a characteristic the town possesses more than any other destination on the coast. In the most "vacation-loving" county of all, there is no underestimating the growth of the capital city of Kilifi, which is particularly attracting the young and young-at-heart, thanks to locations that combine creative parties with water sports, conviviality with relaxation and a desire for wholesome recreation.

It is likely to be a summer season the likes of which have not been seen since before the pandemic, and it is hoped that everyone will enjoy it, in total safety and a desire to be well together. In the name of Kenya's beauty.
