Everything had come to a halt before the pandemic, then the long election season, and now finally, thanks to the initiative of the Italian Ambassador to Kenya Roberto Natali, talks have resumed with the aim of reopening negotiations on the protocol to unblock double taxation between Italy and Kenya: in simple terms, the possibility for those who have business or business-related relationships and personal wealth to be taxed in only one of the two countries, if there is a convention that precisely allows it.
During last Wednesday's meeting between Natali and Kenyan Treasury Minister Njuguna Ndung'u, this aspect was also discussed, which, if an agreement is reached on which, moreover, Italy had already expressed a positive opinion in past years, could increase not only the investment possibilities of our companies in Kenya, but also facilitate the transfer of pensioners who would bring benefits not only to the Kenyan tax authorities but also to the induced activities generated by their presence.
"With the Treasury Minister, we also discussed other aspects that affect imports and bilateral trade with the common intent of establishing a smoother tax plan," said the Ambassador.
