Electric buses with Italian 'flavour' in Kenya

The eco-friendly 'follow the Italian taste' promotion

17-11-2023 by redazione

In the eco-sustainable turnaround of the Kenyan capital's road system, there is also an Italian 'hand', with plenty of "taste".
Thanks to the concomitance of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, which as you will have already read abundantly we are dealing with day by day, given the many and varied initiatives of our embassy, one of the most active not only on the continent to promote our food and wine and our excellence, Italy and Kenya are increasingly going hand in hand in initiatives.

A short while ago, the municipal transport lines inaugurated several electric bus services that connect the metropolis' working-class neighbourhoods, plus another line that departs from JKIA International Airport and goes to the Mombasa fast train station. On the former, for the entire month of November, the Kitchen Week advertisement appears, with buses dedicated to products of our cuisine, from grana padano to extra virgin olive oil, from pizza to fresh pasta and, of course, wine.

'Follow the Italian taste', is the motto, and it is also a way of subsidising this initiative against smog and the use of fuel at a time that is not easy for the Kenyan economy, which is tied to the dollar and therefore subject to the rising price of raw materials that arrive from abroad and whose price is regulated by commercial currencies such as the dollar, which has reached historic highs in Kenya.
In the short video, we show you one of the buses 'dressed up' Italian-style.

On the coast, on the other hand, and we will tell you about this in the next few days, the moving exhibition continues with Italian products posted on Tuk Tuk as travelling works of art. In addition to Malindi and Watamu, which already hosted this initiative last year, Diani has also been added.
