MADE IN ITALY

In the international Watamu an Italian showcase

One of the Cuisine Week initiatives launched

19-11-2024 by redazione

Among the many initiatives for the promotion of Italian food and wine in Kenya, on the occasion of the ‘Week of Italian Cuisine in the World’, Sunday also saw the inauguration of the display of Italian products at the Blue Marmalade supermarket in Watamu, the top tourist destination on the Kenyan coast and also the most international, with a massive presence of Italian guests, both occasional tourists and regular visitors. But it is not to them that the promotion of Italian products, organised by the Italian Trade Agency, the commercial office of the Italian Embassy, is particularly aimed. In fact, Blue Marmalade was chosen because it is non-Italian, but at the same time ‘salomonical’ in buying Italian products from all the most important importers of our country present in Kenya.
Ambassador Roberto Natali, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony of this initiative, wished to recall the importance of proposing original food and drinks and how the promotion of correct use, correct names and preparations can help to avoid the phenomenon of Italian Sounding, i.e. all those products that do not follow the traditions of our country, that do not come from our country or are even counterfeit, and instead promote Italian excellence, historical brands, known or emerging. Throughout the week, those who go to the Blue Marmalade will receive welcome gifts if they purchase a certain amount in Italian products.
The week of Italian cuisine in the world, continues with other events (yesterday Natali also inaugurated the travelling Tuk Tuk exhibition entitled ‘Follow the Italian taste’) and from tomorrow it will move to Nairobi, where conferences, magazine presentations and the invitation-only evening on Friday evening that will conclude the initiative are planned.
