England has added Kenya, along with three other countries, to its 'red' list of the most dangerous countries at the moment due to the coronavirus emergency. The news comes from Sky News, which quotes a government briefing.
The order, which will come into effect on the morning of Friday 9 April, is in response to concerns about new variants of Covid-19 outside of Britain, such as those found in South Africa and Brazil.
As a result of this new restriction, all international travellers who have departed from or transited through Kenya in the 10 days prior to their presumed arrival in the UK will not be allowed access.
British and Irish citizens and those with UK residency rights will be able to enter, but will have to arrive at a designated government-approved location or hotel (in this case, at the citizen's expense) to observe the 10-day quarantine.
The other 'banned' countries along with Kenya are Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
