MOURNING

Goodbye Silvana, eternal girl of Malindi

A longtime visitor to Kenya leaves us with her smile

12-09-2023 by Freddie del Curatolo

The history of Italian Malindi is made up of a myriad of characters, alternating over more than half a century of history and tourism. Faces that over the years come, go, return and reunite, and that Africa and remembrance always make younger than what the identity document actually denounces.
Especially if they have in their gaze the enormous vitality, the pleasure of enjoying life and the constant tan that Silvana Testa had. A good reporter should always add the age of people who leave us, to give a complete report. But a friend from Malindi who knew the eternal Veronese girl would never do so and could only reiterate how much less than her age she showed, precisely because of that enthusiasm inherent in her. Silvana Testa left suddenly, and how contagious her smile and positivity were can be seen in the many, many certificates of affection that appeared on social media from those who frequented or lived in Kenya.
One of the most meaningful of these reads, "You have always been an inspiration with your beauty, style, zest for life and great humor."
Friendly, never over the top, always kind even when she maybe wanted to make a few notes. This is how I personally remember her. Bye Silvana, Italian Malindi will be a little less smiling and light without you.
