The schools in Kenya will reopen no later than next October 19, so the Ministry of Education has decided. But those who are already ready and observing the guidelines of the Ministry for the resumption of classes could already open on Monday, October 5.
In the intention of Minister George Magoha, classes will continue for two months, then observe the classic period of festivities between December and January (but only those) and then resume with a new academic calendar in the next season, in which the vacations will be halved to complete the school year that was missed at the end of March.
At the end of March will then begin the exams for Standard Eight and Form Four (eighth grade and above) students.
No "mid term", i.e. the week of vacation in the middle of each term, and from 1 month to 15 days for the April break, and then start the new year around the beginning of May 2021 and continue with the only break of 15 days in August until the end of November.
Early December 2021 there will be exams and from 2022 it will resume with the normal calendar, from January to December.
After the doubts raised by the teachers' union (who will have to show up for work next Monday, September 28th for an appropriate internship on the Covid-19 rules to be observed and to be observed by the students), the calendar has been designed to guarantee them and the students to be able to complete the program suspended this year in March but without "running out" as specified by the President of KNUT, William Sossion.
Universities and colleges in Kenya will reopen next Monday, October 5.
