Nairobi, the Capital. The centre with the highest number of laboratories to process swabs and the highest number of requests. So almost half of the Covid-19 cases in the country.
Kilifi, the County of Tourism, where many holidaymakers are expected to arrive from Nairobi during the Christmas holidays. These are the two areas of Kenya with the most positive cases in the last 24 hours.
191 in Nairobi, 93 in Kilifi, with the other counties that follow far apart (Kiambu 32, Busia 28 and Uasin Gishu 22, Nakuru 19, Mombasa 17, Nyeri and Kajiado 14, and Bungoma 13).
The alarm bell has been ringing for a few days now, both from the Governors and the health workers, who are clamoring for a decision from President Kenyatta, even a drastic one in the coming days.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health is silent, does not send any particular warnings but congratulates the doctors who have decided to postpone the announced and dangerous national strike of the category.
"We thank our doctors for cancelling the strike and ask the nurses and clinical officials to reconsider their actions," said Health Secretary General Mercy Mwangangi. "We must work together to ensure that Kenyans receive the medical assistance they need.
Yesterday Kenya recorded 521 positive cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, out of 4721 swabs, with the country's total rising to 89,100 cases and the percentage falling below the 10% attention threshold back above 11.
There are 14 patients who have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,545.
At the same time, 425 patients were discharged; 330 from home care and 95 from various hospitals in the country, bringing the total number of admissions to 69,839.
1,102 patients are admitted to various healthcare facilities in the country, while 8,016 are being treated at home.
