While yesterday the Ministry of Health announced the official data for the last 24 hours, reporting another 25 deaths and 1,470 new positives out of 8,072 swabs (18.2% of infections compared to the tests analyzed), Kilifi becomes the third most at risk County after Nairobi and Mombasa and records 124 new cases.
Meanwhile, the number of healings that arrived last month to match the new cases is also falling. Yesterday there were 791, but only 96 of them left a bed free in hospital wards, the other 695 were already at home and were undergoing home care.
The number of deaths meanwhile rises to 1228. There are currently 54 patients admitted to intensive care wards, 32 treated with supplementary oxygen and 20 in high dependency units. A further 73 are in stable conditions in general wards, but still in isolation.
In addition to 124 in Kilifi, the coast reports 183 positives in Mombasa, nine in Lamu, 8 in Tana River, 7 in Taita Taveta and 2 in Kwale for a total of 335 which is the highest ever recorded in the coastal region.
Nairobi, where half of the swabs in the whole country are taken, remains the most officially infected, with 649 new cases yesterday.
