Following the confirmation of the first case of Coronavirus in Kenya, the Government of the African country banned all public meetings, including religious gatherings, sports and inter-school events, as well as all public activities to prevent the situation.
With regard to Sunday masses, Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe announced that, with special health rules, they could continue regularly.
The Minister also ordered public transport providers to immediately start providing hand disinfectants to their passengers and to regularly clean their vehicles to brake.
Other measures are being put in place immediately to ensure the safety of Kenyan citizens travelling in public vehicles of all kinds.
"Travel only out of necessity and anyone with symptoms of cough, colds or fever lines should stay at home and avoid contact with others," Kagwe said, as televisions are also reporting.
At the same time, the Government, in the voice of the Health Minister, urged Kenyans to be cautious not to abuse social media to spread misinformation about the disease.
It called for unity among the Kenyans and urged everyone to take responsibility for dealing with the pandemic.
"Don't expect it to be just the government, Kenyans must take responsibility for stopping the spread by following the rules we are distributing everywhere," Kagwe said, ordering county governments to launch public education and hygiene campaigns to address the emergency.
