Turn of the screw on the controls from Italy for those who go abroad to non-European countries.
During this week, airport staff, including airline employees, have been expressly asked to intensify passport and document controls of their compatriots embarking for intercontinental flights.
This is due to the high number of tourists rejected by the authorities of foreign countries that require Covid-19 free certificates with precise deadlines or with translation, or that do not let tourists in or have additional limitations.
In the case of Kenya in recent days have not been made several Italians from the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa to Nairobi and Mombasa with flights obviously not direct (especially Qatar Airways, very strict in the regulations and in contact with the immigration offices of JKIA airport in Nairobi) and Ethiopian Airways.
Among the reasons: lack of translation into English of the PCR buffer (until a few days ago from Italy they did not check it and often even arriving in Kenya there were no problems, but the international regulations provide for it), serological certificate instead of the buffer, lack of the stamp of resident, registration with AIRE or a work permit in Kenya.
For those who had a letter of family reunification, recruitment or internship, volunteering or other, it is better from today to have also that translated into English and countersigned or stamped accordingly.
We would also like to remind you that if an Italian citizen were to enter Kenyan territory as a tourist, under Italian law he committed a crime, even if he was not checked at the departure.
Therefore, if he should have any problem, the first one would be added to this last one.
So let's summarize what can be required at the airport of departure to go to Kenya from Italy:
TAMPONE PCR with validity of no more than 96 hours from departure time, translated into English.
PERMITTED BY RESIDENT TIMBERED ON THE PASSPORT or in any case original certificate from the Kenyan Immigration Office certifying the residence, better if combined with the AIRE registration.
IF YOU ARE NOT RESIDENT: Invitation letter from a relative for family reunion, documents proving the possession of a house that is the second residence of the holder (therefore regularly declared for tax purposes).
Invitation letter from a Kenyan company for a job or internship. Letter of invitation with a commitment to produce a work, residence or volunteer permit by entities or associations operating in Kenya.
FOR NOW IS NOT ALLOWED TO GO TO KENYA FROM ITALY AS SIMPLE TOURISTS, ALTHOUGH KENYA REGULARLY ACCEPTS ANYONE WHO ARRIVES IN HIS COUNTRY WITH A PCR SWAB WITH VALIDITY 'WITHIN 96 HOURS OF DEPARTURE.
