What will happen tomorrow in Italy as far as foreign travel is concerned?
For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic and particularly after the post-lockdown reopening, close to the renewal of a DPCM, there are not the usual anticipations. Perhaps due to the weekend, or to the attention turned to other themes, especially fiscal ones, we will presumably have to wait until Monday, October 25, to understand if the Government will change the composition of the lists that qualify countries outside the European Union as more or less recommended, if not actually forbidden to tourism.
As is well known, Kenya together with other nations that are also popular destinations for our compatriots, especially in winter, such as Tanzania (particularly the island of Zanzibar) and Madagascar (particularly the island of Nosy Be) is still in the last band, the E. For these destinations, the ban on tourism with some exceptions that can be proved by self-certification, is still valid.
It is difficult for the total ban to be lifted, but quarantine could be eliminated. In the meantime, it could be eliminated as a concept, at least for those with Green Passes, for arrival from any destination.
This would also be a move aimed at foreigners who travel to Italy in turn for business, conventions and other non-tourism related activities.
According to tour operators, the government is thinking of a gradual reopening of some destinations and confirmation that Kenya could already be on the next "White List" of destinations to be reopened little by little, given the great demand, comes from the Director of My Network and Gattinoni Mondo di Vacanze agencies, Sabrina Nadaletti, as reported by the industry blog GuidaViaggi.
"We expect something in Africa, I'm thinking of Kenya," said Nadaletti, "as well as in the Far East, for example Thailand.
Not entirely optimistic about the other two highly requested destinations, namely Madagascar and Zanzibar, where, however, the numbers of the covid-19 emergency are not considered reliable. Remember that unlike Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar for a long time have not provided data and have snubbed the work of the World Health Organization.
On one thing all agencies and tour operators agree: the corridors opened to date are not enough. "But we don't expect a "free-for-all" - Nadaletti says - I believe that the Government will proceed gradually, with a view to controlled air corridors and structures that guarantee the respect of safety procedures".
