SOLIDARITY

Pasquale Tiritò and his family have one of the clearest and most commendable stories of responsible tourism in Kenya, and now their generosity has also led to an important initiative in Italian healthcare.
The owners of Jacaranda and two other resorts in the bay north of Watamu, in the Mbaraka Chembe area where most of their employees come from, have built a school, a dispensary and a church, but also in Watamu itself they have donated equipment to Dr Hussein's clinic, as well as launching a telemedicine project in connection with Italy, which we will tell you about soon.
But let's move to Italy, and specifically to Rome, where a few days ago, in the presence of the President of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, the new “Breast Unit” of the Santo Spirito hospital in the capital was inaugurated.
Thanks to a significant donation from Pasquale Tiritò and his wife and children, who were present at the inauguration, the new healthcare facility dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of women is considered an innovative model, which aims to make the patient's clinical pathway more effective, consistent and streamlined, also taking into account the physical and psychological rehabilitation aspects of the woman as a whole.
“The creation of this new Breast Unit was made possible thanks to a virtuous collaboration: the entire cost was covered by company funds and thanks to the donation from Mr Pasquale Tiritò,” said Rocca before cutting the ribbon, “a synergy that has made it possible to turn an ambitious project into a concrete reality. This is the model we want to promote: a public health service that is closer, more humane and truly at the service of people”. .
Thanks to the Tiritò family also came from the general manager of the Rome Local Health Authority, Giuseppe Quintavalle.
The 300 square metres of the new Breast Unit now house a waiting room with an adjoining library, a reception area, two mammography rooms, two ultrasound rooms, an examination room, a reporting room, other workspaces dedicated to healthcare professionals and a designated humanisation area, a multifunctional, well-kept and non-medicalised space, where the choice of materials, finishes and furnishings has been designed to make women feel comfortable and reassured. From this area, future patients will have immediate access to the examination room and the necessary treatment pathway.
Generosity and compassion for those who suffer are feelings that come naturally to certain people who can only be described as “chosen”. In the case of Pasquale Tiritò and his family, life in Kenya has certainly helped to open their hearts even more and broaden their vision, and it is wonderful to see their passions realised on the Watamu-Italy axis.
Jacaranda Bay won the best beach in Watamu, they say hundreds of fans of Africa, tourists and Italian residents who love the coast of Kenya.
