The Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Alberto Pieri, will be in Malindi on Saturday 24 August to meet his fellow countrymen and the community of the coastal town during an event organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with Malindikenya.net and the Maxlife group of entrepreneurs at Kilili Baharini Resort, starting at 6 pm.
The event is inspired by the celebrations that take place around the world for the 500th anniversary of the death of the Italian genius Leonardo Da Vinci and for which the representatives of the Italian government in Kenya have chosen Malindi.
The great artist, scientist and inventor will be remembered as an example to follow for present and future generations, with readings in Italian and English and through a brief excursus of the journalist and writer Freddie del Curatolo, director of the Portal of Italians in Kenya.
Kenya is a country of inventors and creatives, and the young people of Kilifi County, where there are many initiatives especially in the field of eco-sustainability, are an example, thanks to the meeting of different nationalities favored by tourism.
For this reason, during the evening organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi, a local creative designer who designs and produces accessories with recycled materials and a schoolchildren who will prepare an ad hoc project, coordinated by the Association Progress Welfare Association Malindi, will be awarded.
In addition to the Ambassador of Italy to Kenya Alberto Pieri, there will also be the mission manager of the Space Centre Luigi Broglio di Ngomeni Francesco Dominici and the chief engineer of the base Maria Girolamo Daraio who will illustrate the collaboration between Italy and Kenya for the design of the nano-satellite I-Kuns.
The Italian Embassy in Kenya and the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi invite all their fellow countrymen in Malindi, Watamu and Mambrui to participate. At the end of the meeting, a small refreshment will be offered.
