At Malindi Putipu the excellent lebanese cuisine

Chef Jebara brings unique tastes and "mezze's"

12-02-2022 by redazione

In the heart of Malindi arrives the best Lebanese cuisine of the Kenyan coast.
Chef Luai Jebara, of Middle East origin but for 15 years in Kenya, after having spreaded all around the flavors and aromas of one of the richest and most refined cuisines among those of the eastern Mediterranean lands, has decided to present the exquisite dishes resulting from his experience and professionalism in the historic restaurant Putipù of Lamu Road.
Chef Jebara delights in meat specialties, in particular lamb, and lots of vegetarian food, with special sauces and spicy dishes, legumes and dried fruits that can also be tasted in the typical selection of appetizers better known as "mezze", absolutely to try.
In the rich and tasty menu not to miss at lunch or dinner, better by reservation, we find the now famous hummus, a cream of chickpeas, cumin and sesame tahina sauce, falafel, crispy vegetarian meatballs, babaganoush, a delicious eggplant puree, and other "cult" dishes of the Lebanese tradition that takes the best of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, including Turkish and Greek, reworked in the unmistakable way of a country that also has many aspects in common with African preparations.
Not to be absolutely missed, for example, is the "pita", the typical round and flat bread, without leavening, which is prepared at home and baked in the wood-fired pizza oven. Pizza that obviously, to respect the long tradition of the restaurant Putipu and always present in the menu.
In addition to the "mezze" and the must-have dishes of Putipu, every day Chef Jebara teases the palate of guests with his "Daily specials", plus for happy hour, from 5 to 7, with the aperitif is offered a mini tasting of mezze. Open for both lunch and dinner, until midnight, the restaurant is also available for take-away service.
An opportunity to try the novelties of Lebanese cuisine in Malindi is represented by the Valentine's Day dinner, Monday, February 14, where in addition to Middle Eastern delicacies and "mezze", at Putipù the evening will have a special atmosphere thanks to the live music of Catherine and the Dreamtime Band.
