New Year's Eve dinner in Malindi, in the exclusive and secluded seaside location of the Kilili Baharini Resort & SPA restaurant. The historic and recently renovated hotel on Silversand beach, whose restaurant is always open for outsiders and is recognised as one of the best in the town, offers a comprehensive and classy menu starting at 8pm, with a welcome drink, before starting dinner at 9pm.
The rich menu includes starters with fried crab claws, crab bisque, tuna and fresh fish carpaccio, lobster Catalan style, shrimp and mango salad, fresh oysters, Russian salad with eggs, asparagus in vinaigrette, vegetable spring rolls, courgette carpaccio and mushroom velouté.
As first courses, the famous house ravioli with smoked sailfish sauce, or spinach and ricotta with tomato sauce, traditional meat lasagne, lobster or tomato tagliolini.
This is followed by a mixed seafood grill, with lobster, king prawns, fish, octopus and squid, grilled beef fillet, roast leg of lamb, grilled lamb, roast chicken, all with side orders of Chips, butter sautéed rice, ratatouille and garlic broccoli. Dulcis in fundo, house profiterole, lemon cheese cake with sultanas and tiramisu. And at midnight, as usual, cotechino and lentils and panettone and pandoro, with custard or chocolate. During the evening, a deejay will entertain with background music, then invite dancing, while the fireworks display can be watched from the beach.
